Jocelyn Jansons is a writer, director, and producer. Winner of the George RR Martin Screenwriting Award, Jocelyn will direct the coming-of-age feature, BECAUSE MAYBE, to be filmed in Latvia in 2024, with George RR Martin as her Executive Producer. The project was a recent selection for the International Financing Forum at the Toronto Film Festival as well as Spotlight Latvia in Los Angeles.

Jocelyn wrote, directed, and produced her short films, BABY MONITOR and LOBSTER. She was the inaugural participant for the NBCUniversal Director’s Initiative shadowing on Peacock’s MACGRUBER starring Will Forte and Kristen Wiig and a New Visions Award winner.

Jocelyn brings years of experience to her projects - from her work on indie features like Flirting with Disaster, Little Odessa, and Manny & Lo, to producing documentary films, notably MUSCLE SHOALS for American Masters on PBS. She directed and produced the web series, WHAT’S YOUR 20? for dietcoke.com, which went behind-the-scenes on Monster’s Ball and The Slaughter Rule, and was an Associate Producer on Mike White’s first feature, CHUCK & BUCK. Jocelyn recently produced music videos for Kiko El Crazy, will.i.am, and Andy Primm. Jocelyn also directs theater including the play WOLF based on her screenplay BECAUSE MAYBE starring Forrest Goodluck, Morningstar Angeline, and Dino Kelly, and the world premiere of Eve Ensler’s I AM AN EMOTIONAL CREATURE - THE SECRET LIFE OF GIRLS.

Jocelyn is an accomplished reporter and field producer of news, documentary, and reality television series for E!, NBC, PBS, and commercial clients. She has interviewed Ryan Gosling, Andy Warhol, Amy Adams, the Mets baseball team, Lee Daniels, Iron Maiden, P Diddy, Heath Ledger, LL Cool J, and many others.

She is the founder and director of NEW MEXICO GIRLS MAKE MOVIES, a non-profit which brings young women into the film industry, and a member of the New Mexico Governor’s Council on Film and Media Industries. Jocelyn serves as an advisor for the non-profit, LUPUS KIDS, and is a passionate advocate for the protection of wolves.

Jocelyn has taught her screenwriting and directing workshops at UCLA, UNM, and throughout New Mexico and was Associate Professor for the New Mexico Filmmaker’s Intensive at the College of Santa Fe.

The daughter of an abstract painter from SoHo, New York City, Jocelyn worked from age twelve to seventeen as the host and reporter for two Emmy Award-winning teen news shows on NBC. She is a graduate of Hunter College High School, Brown University, UCLA, and the University of Bologna, Italy, and a Fulbright scholar to Latvia, where she is a citizen.
